Inner sponge for 1/10 off-road tyres - 16mm

The Yokomo YOKZCT16M is a 16mm inner sponge developed for 1/10 scale off-road tyres, supplied as a medium-density insert to help tune tyre support and handling. This type of insert is routinely used on buggies where sidewall behaviour and traction adjustments matter.

Using a medium-density 16mm insert will alter tyre profile and sidewall stiffness, affecting how the tyre delivers power and responds to suspension movement. The foam is chosen to offer a compromise between durability and conformity so it sits inside the tyre without shifting under load.

To fit, seat the sponge evenly inside the tyre, make sure it is centred and free of twists, then mount the wheel. Check fit after an initial run and replace the insert if it compresses permanently or becomes damaged.

Can I use this insert with any 1/10 buggy tyre brand?

In most cases yes, it fits standard 1/10 off-road tyres, but confirm rim and tyre internal width before fitting to ensure a good seat.

Is it acceptable to trim the sponge for a tighter fit?

You can carefully trim small amounts to improve centring, but avoid removing too much which would reduce support and change handling unpredictably.

How should I maintain the foam insert?

Inspect for compression or cracks after several runs, keep it clean from debris, and replace if the foam no longer holds shape.
