Technical Notes for YOKYS1000

The Yokomo YOKYS1000 Super Blend Shock Oil #1000 is a high-viscosity silicone oil developed to refine suspension response on 1/10 scale RC models. It works in oil-filled shocks to help drivers tune the interplay between grip and agility for touring, GT, and off-road configurations.

Viscosity selection directly affects compression and rebound speeds; increasing cSt raises resistance and stabilizes the chassis, while lower cSt improves compliance over small bumps. Use this oil to boost damping where piston or spring changes are not desirable.

  • Compatibility: Recommended for most 1/10 scale oil-filled shocks used in electric and nitro touring cars, buggies, and short course rigs.
  • Installation: Fully drain old oil and clean components, refill to the specified level, then cycle the shock to expel air pockets before final assembly.
  • Tuning tips: Adjust in small steps alongside piston and spring choices, and compare runs under similar ambient temperatures to isolate the oil's effect.
Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Yes, 1000cSt raises damping resistance, which can reduce small-bump compliance. This trade-off often yields better stability at speed but check track conditions to decide if the change is suitable.
If both are silicone-based they will mix, but brand-specific additives and temperature response can alter handling. Trial the blend on practice runs to confirm predictable behavior.
After filling, extend the shock and compress it several times, keeping the rod straight to force trapped air out. Repeat the cycle until no bubbles appear, then reseal.
