The Serpent SER500917 is supplied as a rear shock spring for RC use, marked with a 13mm nominal diameter and a 2.4lbs spring rate and finished in green. It serves as a replacement coil for rear shock assemblies where that diameter and rate are required, and is intended purely as a spring element rather than an assembled shock.

Basic installation follows common coil-over practice: take off the shock cap, remove the retainer, slide the spring onto the shaft, then reassemble while setting the desired preload. After fitting, check for adequate clearance at full compression and extension and confirm fasteners remain tight after initial running.

Use this spring to alter rear-end characteristics by changing static ride height and compression resistance. Test changes incrementally with matching damper settings and tyre choices to find the best compromise between traction and mid-corner stability.
