Piston blank built for 13mm shock bodies

This Serpent SER500900 Shock 13mm piston blank serves as a foundational piston element for 13mm internal-diameter shock absorbers used in scale RC dampers. It is intended to be combined with matching shock bodies and shim arrangements to tailor fluid passage and damping response.

Compatibility: designed specifically for 13mm ID shock assemblies; be sure to pair this blank with appropriate shock oil, shaft size, and piston hole configurations when adjusting damping. Verify dimensions before attempting to fit into non-13mm systems.

Installation notes: check the piston for manufacturing remnants or burrs prior to fitting, align the piston the same way across all shocks on the vehicle, and fit correct O-rings and retainer hardware. Cycle the assembled shock to purge any air and confirm unobstructed shaft travel before running.

Tuning role: as a blank piston it establishes a baseline flow rate; introducing drilled or slotted pistons or changing shim stacks will modify compression and rebound behavior. Use the blank when building progressive valving or when you need to limit flow to increase damping forces.

Use this part as a baseline piston in damper development and when assembling bespoke piston combinations.

You can add ports, but do so carefully and maintain symmetry between pistons in the same damper to preserve balanced flow characteristics.
The blank affects both compression and rebound by changing fluid flow; the net effect depends on holeing, shim stack arrangement, and oil viscosity.
Start with a mid-range viscosity for your vehicle type and increase viscosity in small steps to raise damping, recording changes so you can compare results.
Combine the blank with stepped shim stacks and trial small changes at a time; document each run to isolate the effect of each alteration.
