This 1/700 photo-etched set supplies thin metal components to refine models of the IJN aircraft carrier Shokaku, enhancing small surface features and deck fittings to a higher standard of detail.

Shokaku was a lead ship of her class in the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War. Commissioned shortly before Japan's expansion into the Pacific theatre, she participated in major carrier engagements in 1942 and stayed in frontline operations until her loss in 1944. The class offered larger air complements and revised flight deck layouts compared with earlier carriers.

The set delivers delicate, finely patterned metal replacements and add-ons for details that are challenging to render in injection-moulded plastic at 1/700 scale. Included are two 25mm machine cannon parts made as separate etched pieces, sized to present an accurate silhouette on the deck and superstructure. Common applications are swapping out railings, gun shields, and other exposed elements; assembly calls for a photo-etch bender, fine tweezers, and cyanoacrylate glue for secure attachment.
