This is a 1/12-scale plastic model kit that reproduces the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1, offered as a detailed display model in Tamiya's 1/12 motorcycle series.
Development for the 2004 YZR-M1 concentrated on enhancing traction and chassis response, incorporating a revised twin-spar aluminum frame and an inverted swing arm plus upgrades to the 990cc liquid-cooled inline-four. The season included a prominent rider transfer that shifted competitive balance and produced standout race results.
The kit represents the YZR-M1 with an overall length of roughly 172 mm. The compact inline-four and adjacent drivetrain components are modeled for visual fidelity, and the side and seat cowlings can be removed after assembly to reveal the engine. Tires are supplied in synthetic rubber to mimic slicks, and 2.5 mm poly caps are used to streamline damper assembly and secure bodywork. Included are Cartograf decal sheets for rider No.46 and No.11 without cigarette logos.
An accurate scale interpretation of the 2004 Yamaha YZR-M1 aimed at modellers seeking fine exterior detail and removable panels for engine display.
