Silicone Differential Oil for Precise Diff Behaviour

Arrowmax am-210028 is supplied in a 59ml bottle and formulated for radio-controlled model differentials where increased shear resistance is useful. With a 50,000 cSt grade, the fluid flows slowly and predictably to reduce diff slip and steady power transfer during acceleration and cornering on scale on-road and off-road vehicles.

In use, this fluid changes how fast a diff allows wheel speed differences. A heavier oil like 50,000 cSt boosts coupling between axle outputs, which helps limit inside-wheel spin on corner exit and alters handling balance. Integrate this choice with tyre selection, suspension adjustments, and gearing for best results.

Basic service workflow:

  • Empty the old diff fluid and degrease gears and bearings with a compatible RC cleaner.
  • Examine O-rings and diff parts for signs of wear prior to reassembly.
  • Top up the diff housing to the desired level, rotate the gears to distribute the fluid, and reassemble.
  • Carry out a short break-in period and conduct track tests to judge handling, then refine by switching to lighter or heavier fluids if needed.

Notes on handling and storage: store the bottle upright with the cap closed at normal room temperature, avoid any contamination from dirt or other lubricants, and dispose of used fluid according to local waste guidelines for hobby and automotive oils.

Begin by draining the old oil and cleaning all diff components. Inspect seals and bearings, then add the 50,000 cSt fluid, rotate the gears to work it through, and reassemble. Perform a test session to confirm the change.
When correctly installed and periodically serviced, a heavier silicone fluid does not inherently damage components; regular inspection of seals and bearings helps prevent issues from contamination or wear.
Work in a clean area, use clean syringes or pipettes, keep the bottle closed between uses, and wipe parts before assembly to reduce the risk of dirt or other oils entering the diff.
