Long-life silicone damping fluid for shocks

Arrowmax am-210040 Silicone Shock Fluid is delivered in a 110ml container and rated at approximately 500cst for application in model car and buggy shock absorbers. The product is a clean silicone oil intended for routine maintenance and setup work on scale shocks, not for any road vehicle systems.

The primary purpose is damping adjustment: different oil viscosities modify compression and rebound characteristics inside threaded or cartridge shocks used on electric and nitro RC cars and buggies. A 500cst oil tends to give moderate damping that improves rebound stability without causing overly firm compression in many setups.

Routine handling is simple for those familiar with shock servicing: empty the old fluid, check seals and piston condition, then refill to the specified level for your shock type. Use a tidy workspace, fit correct shock caps and rods, and ensure pistons are seated to prevent air pockets. Follow local rules for disposal of used fluids.

For consistent test results, alter only one parameter at a time when tuning—oil grade, piston or spring—and record changes. Temperature and run duration will influence perceived damping, so keep conditions steady during measurement sessions.

Look for dirt or foam in the oil, sluggish shock movement, leaking seals, or inconsistent damping; any of these suggest the fluid should be changed.
A correctly matched viscosity can reduce internal shock wear by limiting cavitation and excessive piston movement, but seals still require inspection and replacement as part of regular maintenance.
Store bottles upright, sealed and away from heat or direct sunlight; keep them in a cool, dry place to avoid contamination and viscosity drift.
