The EX037S steel centre swing shaft is an aftermarket replacement suitable for the Axial EXO chassis and is supplied as a single set. Fitted as a direct replacement for the central swing assembly, the steel shaft aims to increase centre drivetrain rigidity and resist wear better than many stock options.
When refining drivetrain behaviour, a steel centre shaft alters the feedback and stiffness around the centre differential and linkages. You can expect reduced flex under heavy loads during technical trail sections or bashing, though the increased stiffness will pass additional shock into surrounding link mounts and bearings.
Fitting is simple for those used to EXO centre units: extract the original shaft from the swing carrier, check bearings and link pins for signs of wear, seat the steel shaft in place, and confirm free movement of the swing arms before tightening. Avoid over-torquing fasteners and ensure adjacent bearings spin freely after rebuild.
Service tips: inspect bearing interfaces and the shaft for corrosion or wear at regular intervals, use suitable lubricants for steel contact points, and renew worn pins or bearings to prevent premature damage to the shaft.
