Aftermarket aluminium main gear cover for AXIAL SCX24

This is an aluminium main gear cover made to suit AXIAL SCX24 Deadbolt platforms, supplied as a three-piece set SCX24038GC. It replaces the stock plastic part to give a firmer shield against impacts and to aid heat transfer from the motor and spur area during sustained crawling.

Construction and fit: the cover is machined from 6061-T6 aluminium for light but durable protection and secures with stainless steel cap head screws. The original listing includes one gear cover and two stainless steel cap head screws 1.4x5 intended for the Deadbolt gearbox mounting points.

Installation notes: remove the original cover, inspect mesh and bearings for wear, then install the aluminium cover with the supplied screws using an appropriate hex driver. Avoid overtightening and check spur and pinion clearance before use.

Role in tuning: this upgrade increases rigidity around the main gear area and provides a path for dissipating heat away from the spur/motor region, which can help thermal stability on long indoor or outdoor crawling sessions without altering drivetrain alignment.
