Rear shaft overview and function

This rear main drive shaft is an aftermarket replacement for Axial Yeti chassis applications, combining hardened steel connection points with a 6061-T aluminum shaft to reduce rotating weight while preserving structural stiffness where it matters.

A captive steel wire ring retains the set screws to reduce the chance of fasteners backing out during rough running. The aluminium section trims mass yet supports accurate driveline geometry. Adjustable span from 147mm to 157mm lets you fine tune engagement and pinion-to-spur alignment without swapping components.

Check that the adjustable length fits your Yeti clearance and follow the vehicle manufacturer torque specs for the supplied hardware. The unit ships with two 2.5XM4X11 stainless steel screws to fasten the assembly.

Standard hex drivers suit the set screws; a caliper or ruler helps set the shaft to the desired 147-157mm span accurately.

Will this reduce drivetrain vibration?

The lighter aluminium shaft body reduces rotating mass which can help smooth driveline behaviour, but correct alignment and torque are key to minimising vibration.
