Optimised Short-Length Big Bore Spring

The Yokomo YAS-1000A is a big bore rear shock spring engineered for artificial high-grip surfaces such as carpet and astro turf. Its reduced length supports a lower ride height while aiming to keep jump control and cornering stability consistent.

On high-traction surfaces this spring smooths out landings, helps prevent the tyre or chassis catching turf in tight turns, and reduces sudden roll tendencies. It is intended for use with rear shock setups that accept big bore springs.

Tuning notes: confirm inner and outer diameter compatibility and that the spring seats correctly on your shock. When adjusting, change damping and preload incrementally to find the balance between compliant landings and steady corner grip. This component is designed for RC models only.

Begin by reducing preload to match the lower static ride height, then soften damping in small increments to restore mid-stroke compliance. Test on your track surface and refine by lap times and landing feel.
Ensure the spring clears shock pistons and collars when compressed. Fit the spring onto the seat fully and cycle the shock to check for binding before final assembly.
Yes. The shorter spring lowers the centre of gravity and usually yields firmer, more controlled landings on carpet and turf, though you should adjust damping to avoid a harsh rebound.
