61SX series crankcase housing details

This component is an aftermarket replacement housing intended for use with O.S. Engine 61SX-H, 61SX-HG and 61SX-HGL glow engines. It locates the crankshaft and oil seals and is supplied to restore correct mechanical alignment and combustion chamber sealing where the original housing is compromised.

Fitment is usually part of a complete engine strip-down and rebuild; inspect bearing bores, gasket faces and mating faces thoroughly. The unit is delivered as a single housing to replace a damaged crankcase and should be trial-fitted to confirm crankshaft axial clearance and proper seal compression before final assembly.

For service and tuning, the crankcase's role is structural and sealing-related; it will not alter ignition timing but ensures internal components run true, which supports repeatable carburation and ignition stability in glow engines used on RC models.

Specifications

  • Material: Not specified
  • Model Number: OS27901000
  • Compatibility: 61SX-H, 61SX-HG, 61SX-HGL

Use this crankcase when the original housing is worn or damaged, or during a full rebuild to recover correct internal alignment and sealing of the engine assembly.

Compare your engine's published part numbers and physical mounting points with the OS27901000 listing. If in doubt, remove the old housing and check the stamped or printed numbers before purchasing.
A used housing can be reused only if bearing seats and mating faces are within service limits and show no damage. When in doubt, fit a new OS27901000 to guarantee correct tolerances.
Ensure all surfaces are clean, press bearings squarely into place, check endplay, and follow the engine manual for gasket type or sealant to avoid oil leaks and premature wear.
A correctly fitted crankcase maintains crankshaft alignment and sealing, which reduces wear on bearings and seals and helps maintain reliable operation over extended service life.
