Explaining the 0.69 front reduction

This RC front reduction gear set is built for ball differentials and intended to promote counter-drift characteristics when used with Yokomo drift packages. The 0.69 front-to-rear ratio is achieved by pairing a 41T driven gear with a 12T drive gear, slowing the front relative to the rear to alter yaw response during slides.

Fitting the unit involves opening the front differential area and swapping the existing gear, so allow time for basic diff service and careful reassembly. Because the front is deliberately slowed, expect to make finer throttle and steering corrections compared with a direct 1:1 set-up when bedding in the new balance.

Choose this set to shift torque distribution toward drift-focused handling on models that already run drift-oriented suspension and wheels. This is an RC component intended for model-scale tuning only.

Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Remove the front diff cover, extract the existing gear, fit the 41T driven and 12T drive gear per orientation, inspect bearings and seals, then reassemble with correct shimming. Work methodically and keep fasteners in the original locations to maintain alignment.
Because front rotation is reduced, reduce abrupt throttle bursts and use smoother steering corrections during slides. Re-tune throttle trims and practice transitions to adapt to the altered torque split.
