Technical notes on the graphite tower

The Yokomo YZ-017GW1 front tower is a dedicated 3.5mm graphite upgrade built for Works'91 TeamSpec applications. The plate reduces flex at the upper shock mounts and helps preserve consistent suspension geometry under load, which is valuable for lap-to-lap repeatability.

Constructed from medium-thickness graphite, the tower offers increased stiffness without a significant weight penalty, sharpening shock response while keeping the chassis balanced. It is profiled to match the standard upper mounting layout used on YZ-W91TS and YZ-W91, enabling a clean replacement of the original part.

Fitting guidance: attach the tower to the existing shock posts using the stock fasteners. No extra hardware is required in most cases. When altering setup, use the new upper mount holes and adjust shock length or spring rates to dial in turn-in and mid-corner behavior.

A properly mounted 3.5mm graphite tower offers good resistance to flex while remaining reasonably impact tolerant; regular inspection for hairline cracks after heavy impacts is recommended.
Graphite can fracture if overloaded repeatedly; avoid severe impacts and check mounting holes for wear. Replace the plate if you notice any signs of delamination or cracking.
Maintenance is minimal: keep mounting faces clean and fasteners torqued correctly. Wipe dirt away after running and inspect for damage during routine checks.
When installed with correct fastener torque, the plate holds well; use thread locker on screws if you experience recurring loosening during events.
Minor knocks are tolerated, but repeated heavy impacts will reduce service life. Inspect after any big hit and replace if structural integrity is compromised.
