Compact 1/700 Kirishima with enhanced detailing

The Fujimi FJ-43199 kit recreates the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Kirishima in 1/700 scale, aimed at modellers who want crisp detail and historical accuracy. The package features photo-etched fittings, a wood deck seal and metal gun barrels to boost realism.

This vessel is significant to World War II naval history, and the kit provides well-engineered parts that assemble cleanly. Finished models make fine additions to a tabletop fleet or diorama when painted and weathered.

  • Scale: 1/700
  • Photo-etched fittings included for fine rigging and rail detail
  • Wood deck seal included to simulate plank texture
  • Metal gun barrels supplied for sharp muzzle detail
Cyanoacrylate (super glue) is good for photo-etched parts, while plastic cement works well for the main styrene components; use sparingly on the wood deck seal.
Decals, where provided, are for deck markings and smaller stencils; checking the instruction sheet shows the full decal set included in this release.
Yes, the 1/700 scale makes it suitable for harbour or at-sea dioramas; the wood deck seal gives an authentic surface for close-up displays.
Enamel or acrylic model paints in navy greys and deck browns are commonly used; a matte varnish will unify the finish and protect decals.
