This 1/700 full-hull plastic kit recreates the Imperial Japanese Navy heavy cruiser Myoko and is issued as a special version that includes photo-etched parts to refine surface fittings and small details.
The Myoko was the lead ship of its heavy cruiser class built between the world wars. Designed for long-range operations, the class underwent several modernisations to upgrade armament and protection. Myoko served through the Pacific War and was altered periodically to meet new operational requirements.
The kit ships as a full-hull injection-moulded assembly for glue-and-paint construction. Molded components supply the hull, superstructure and main fittings while a frets of photo-etched parts add delicate elements such as railings and deck fixtures. Plan to use standard modelling tools, suitable adhesives and fine paints to marry the etched parts to the plastic components.
The full-hull format provides a ready-to-display silhouette but calls for precise alignment when joining the hull and placing the superstructure to keep deck lines coherent. Photo-etched parts increase realism but add complexity: careful bending, adhesive compatible with thin metal, and neat painting are required. Use the instruction sheet and photo references for placing tiny pieces.
At 1/700 scale the model is well suited to shelf-mounted fleets and small dioramas that emphasise formation and appearance. The mix of injection-mould detail and etched metal parts enhances the accuracy of railings, ladders and deck fittings for display-oriented builders and collectors.
This edition delivers a full-hull representation of a notable heavy cruiser with added photo-etched components for better small-scale fidelity. It is intended for modellers and collectors focused on display accuracy and refined surface fittings.
