This full-hull 1/700 plastic kit depicts the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Mutsu as configured in 1942, intended for modellers focused on external accuracy and display presentation.
Mutsu belonged to the Nagato-class and entered service in the early 1920s. The class was designed around large-caliber main guns and significant belt armor, then modernised between wars to update fire control and survivability systems. Mutsu later performed training and fleet readiness duties before being lost after an internal explosion in 1943.
The kit emphasises hull lines and surface features consistent with a full-hull approach. Components include separately moulded upper-deck parts and superstructure pieces, and the box contains metal gun barrels to refine muzzle detail. Builders should follow normal modelling steps: clean parts, test-fit the assemblies, apply historically referenced paint schemes, and position metal barrels carefully to keep alignment.
Because the model is full-hull, it is well suited for a display base or simple diorama. External fittings such as deck details, boats, and masts are provided for finishing; internal compartments are not represented. Typical finish work like rigging and weathering will substantially change the final presentation.
A solid full-hull kit of the battleship Mutsu that offers upgraded gun detail via metal barrels, aimed at builders who value exterior fidelity and display readiness.
