This first gear is supplied as a service spare for the Futaba S9602 servo and is suitable for hobby RC applications. It occupies the leading position in the servo gear train and is used when the fitted gear is worn or damaged, or during scheduled gearbox servicing.
Replacing the gear is a modest task for those comfortable with small electronics: remove the shell, record the existing gear order, fit the new first gear, and reassemble checking for correct mesh and alignment. Make sure gear teeth are free of debris and inspect adjacent bearings and splines for signs of wear before you finish.
In maintenance terms this part renews the interface between the servo output shaft and the remaining gears. Installing a fresh first gear helps keep centring accurate and lowers backlash introduced by damaged teeth, aiding steady servo performance in scale models.
