How the altitude vario module works

This Futaba FUSBS-01A S.BUS sensor measures ambient air pressure and converts it into barometric altitude and vario readouts that are sent via S.BUS to your telemetry setup. It is intended for use with S.BUS-enabled receivers and telemetry displays on model aircraft and other RC craft that utilise pressure-based altitude data.

Fit the unit by plugging it into the S.BUS bus or an S.BUS-compatible receiver socket and let the system enumerate the sensor on the telemetry chain. Once connected, the module supplies pressure-derived altitude and climb/descent metrics for display or recording.

Prior to installation, verify that your receiver and transmitter support S.BUS telemetry sensors and barometric data. Consult Futaba's product literature for exact mounting options and any electrical installation notes.

Specifications

  • Item FUTABA SBS-01A ALTITUDE S.BUS SENSOR (ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE VARIO METER) EBB1163 (W/O PACKING)
  • Manufacturer Futaba
  • Model Number FUSBS-01A
  • Compatibility S.BUS telemetry systems
  • Function Atmospheric pressure based altitude and vario reporting
The unit outputs pressure-derived altitude and vertical speed values, relaying the calculated altitude and climb/descent rate to the S.BUS telemetry system.
Connect the module to the S.BUS wiring or an S.BUS port on your receiver. The telemetry bus will register the sensor and start passing its data to the transmitter.
Your transmitter must support S.BUS telemetry and be able to display barometric altitude and vario values; refer to the transmitter manual for supported sensor types and display configuration.
Yes. When paired with a compatible receiver and a telemetry-capable transmitter or logger, the sensor's altitude and vario outputs are useful for recording flight performance and analysing climb profiles.
