This aftermarket CVD set is intended for Traxxas Xmaxx 8S use where higher rotational speeds and torque require more robust components. Core drive elements are formed from hardened steel #45 and the joint layout has been revised to reduce vibration under load.
The kit swaps out dogbone-style pieces for thicker hardened steel parts, expanding the dogbone diameter from 5.5mm to 7mm as supplied, and revises the CVD-to-hex interface to a stainless steel pin through a perforated joint instead of the original fastening method. The objective is lower runout and improved hex retention during aggressive driving.
Fitment notes: alloy hex adapters are included and basic driveline dismantling is required to change front or rear CVDs. Keep alignment accurate between hubs and wheel hexes to prevent premature bearing or gear wear. This component is an aftermarket upgrade for hobby RC use only.
Owners of Traxxas Xmaxx 8S looking for a hardened steel option will find the GPM TXM8170N/2 set improves hex security and driveline stiffness; always follow recommended checks when installing.
