This injection-moulded 1/72 plastic kit depicts the F-14B Tomcat and is part of Hasegawa's SP line, aimed at experienced modellers and collectors who want fine external accuracy.
The F-14 Tomcat began life in the late 1960s as a carrier-based fighter and fleet defence interceptor for the United States Navy. The B variant introduced stronger engines and updated avionics compared with the A, and served through the Cold War into the 1990s. VF-103 "Jolly Rogers" is known for its distinctive skull-and-crossbones livery and carrier-launched history.
This release contains separately moulded exterior parts plus a dedicated set of high-detail nozzle components to improve the appearance of the rear fuselage. Panel lines and external profiles follow common scale modelling practice; achieving a polished display finish will require painting and careful fit work. The documentation provided here does not list decal options, so verify marking contents on the kit packaging or instructions before you plan your paint scheme.
Modellers should expect routine build tasks such as seam sanding, filling, mask work for painting, and careful alignment of the wing and undercarriage parts. The nozzle pieces act as aftermarket-style upgrades to raise the fidelity of the exhaust area compared to standard mouldings.
A focused 1/72 plastic kit offering improved nozzle detail and external accuracy, well suited to display builds of VF-103 Jolly Rogers.
