The Heinkel He219 A-7 Uhu earned its reputation as an effective night-fighter during World War II. Driven by a pair of Daimler-Benz DB603 powerplants, the A-7 brought upgrades such as enlarged supercharger intakes and refined radar systems that boosted its interception capability in night operations.
Introduced from 1942 onwards, the He219 series showcased several notable innovations. Crews benefited from a pressurised cockpit, a forward-mounted cockpit for improved sight, and tricycle landing gear. The aircraft was also notable for being among the first to use ejector seats operationally.
Tamiya's 1/48 kit reflects those features in miniature, offering accurate panel lines and well-engineered parts. The layout suits modellers who enjoy careful assembly and painting to bring out the He219 A-7's historic character.
