Faithful 1/35 Panzer IV Ausf C Reproduction

The Hobby Boss HB-80130 produces a faithful 1/35 representation of the German Panzer IV Ausf C, capturing the distinct early-war markings and lines. The limited wartime production of this variant makes it an appealing subject for historical modelling projects.

Design Background and Notable Details

The Panzerkampfwagen IV was a medium support tank developed by Krupp-Grusion and formed a major part of German armoured forces, with total production exceeding 12,000 across types. The Ausf C is noted for its shorter 7.5 cm gun and an MG34 turret fit, plus the flat-front superstructure aligning the driver and radio operator visors.

What Comes in the Box

Inside are 49 plastic sprues along with a lower hull and a turret, creating a rewarding build. The set also includes metal items such as a copper cable and a single photo-etched component for enhanced detail. Released in July 2015, this kit appeals to modellers wanting historical fidelity.

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Material: Plastic alongside metal components, including copper cable, and photo-etched parts
  • Assembly Type: Unassembled kit
  • Paint and Decals: Not included
The HB-80130 focuses on period-correct shapes and fittings for the Ausf C, including the flat superstructure and turret armament, making it well suited for accurate dioramas and displays.
Tracks are supplied as separate parts on sprues and require assembly. This allows for realistic sag and alignment when completed by the modeller.
Use a sharp hobby knife and fine tweezers to remove and position photo-etched pieces. A small amount of cyanoacrylate is effective for secure attachment without visible glue marks.
