Hobby Boss 80344 1/48 A-7D Corsair II - Background and Service

The LTV A-7 Corsair II served as a dependable carrier-based light attack aircraft during the Vietnam conflict, operating at subsonic speeds with a focus on strike missions. It replaced the A-4 Skyhawk in naval service and later appeared in USAF and Air National Guard units as a successor to the A-1 Skyraider, F-100 Super Sabre, and F-105 Thunderchief. The type was also supplied to countries including Greece, Portugal, and Thailand.

Designed with some influence from the F-8 Crusader, the A-7 incorporated contemporary cockpit aids like a head-up display and an inertial navigation system. The USAF A-7D used the Allison TF41-A-1 turbofan and carried a 20 mm M61 Vulcan cannon. Production reached 459 aircraft, making it a notable postwar platform.

A determined beginner can complete it, but some prior kit experience makes handling small details and alignment easier.
