The Messerschmitt Me 262 earned its place in history as the first operational jet fighter, with development beginning in April 1939 and a first flight on 18 July 1942. Twin Jumo 004B turbines gave the aircraft impressive performance for its era, reaching roughly 870 km/h at 6,000 m, along with a ceiling near 11,400 m and a range around 1,050 km.
The Me 262 A-1a/U5 was an experimental variant intended to mount six MK108 cannons, but only a single prototype was produced in that configuration. This model kit gives modellers a chance to explore that experimental armament layout and the aircraft's streamlined form.
At 1/48 scale the Hobby Boss kit reproduces the Me 262 A-1a/U5 with accurate proportions, resulting in a finished length of 221 mm and a width of 260.6 mm. Moulded in quality plastic, the assembly requires adhesive and a steady hand, offering a rewarding build for those who enjoy precise fitting and painting work.
