The Hobby Boss 1/35 German Land-Wasser-Schlepper II-Prototype kit captures an experimental amphibious vehicle from World War II. The model reflects a design that attempted to bridge land mobility and waterborne transport in a single platform.
Initially conceived as an unarmoured amphibious tractor, the original LWS suffered from an open trailer layout and little protection. Engineers adapted components from the PzKpfw IV, including its track assemblies and suspension, to support a lightly armoured body. Branded as the Panzerfaehre, the concept relied on pontoons to ferry tanks and supplies, but development stopped in 1942 with only two prototypes built.
Collectors and builders who enjoy unusual wartime vehicles will find this Hobby Boss kit rewarding. The assembly includes features like the cape stand winch and fold-down air intakes, providing extra modelling detail and a distinctive finished subject for display cases.
