The Hobby Boss HB-83515 kit depicts the PLA Navy Type 033 Romeo Class submarine, a Chinese adaptation of an earlier Soviet design. Developed after the 1950 Sino-Soviet Friendship Treaty, the Type 033 went into production between 1962 and 1984, with 84 examples built in China.
