The Sd.Kfz.222 Leichter Panzerspahwagen was a light armoured scout vehicle used between 1935 and 1944, built on the Horch 801 chassis with a distinctive angled hull and small turret. A rear-mounted 90 hp engine allowed road speeds near 80 km/h and about 40 km/h off-road. Its mobility suited Western Europe, but it was less effective in the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front and North Africa, leading to replacement by the Sdkfz 250 half-track in many roles.
The Hobby Boss 1/35 kit captures the vehicle's proportions and surface features, offering builders precise parts to model a convincing replica. The Hobby Boss 83816 - 1/35 German Sd.Kfz.222 Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle (3rd Series) is geared toward modellers focused on historical accuracy.
This set includes more than 380 plastic components across 14 sprues, separate upper and lower hull pieces, and four rubber tyres. The addition of three photo-etched parts enhances fine detailing, while multi-directional slide-moulding keeps moulding marks minimal and assembly tidy.
