The AH-1 Cobra, from Bell, represents a key shift in attack helicopter design. Featuring a tandem cockpit for two crew and a characteristic two-blade main rotor, the prototype flew on September 7, 1965 and the type entered service in June 1967 under the name "HueyCobra." Its combat deployment provided closer air support and improved escort capability for transport helicopters.
This 1/72 Hobby Boss kit reproduces the Cobra's slim fuselage and short wing stubs with care. Geared toward builders who collect military aircraft, the kit balances manageable assembly with an emphasis on historically informed shapes and panel lines.
Expect a build that rewards patience: parts alignment and careful finishing will highlight cockpit features and flight surfaces. Once complete, the model sits well on a shelf or in a display case as an example of Cold War era helicopter engineering.
