Tamiya 69951 is a surface primer spray made to ready hobby scale models and Tamiya kits for metallic topcoats. It produces an even undercoat that helps metallic pigments sit uniformly and reduces speckling when you apply the finish coat.
How to use: work on clean, dust-free plastic or resin panels. Lightly sand glossy spots with a fine abrasive (800-1200 grit) and clear away dust prior to spraying. Keep the can 20-30 cm from the surface and apply several thin, steady passes instead of one heavy application to prevent runs and uneven texture.
Best practice: always try the spray on a scrap panel to check the spray pattern and drying behaviour. Leave short flash-off intervals between passes (roughly 5-10 minutes depending on temperature) and follow the label for total drying time before applying metallic paint. Avoid spraying in very humid conditions for consistent results.
Storage and finishing: the primer enhances adhesion and gives a smoother surface but does not replace polishing steps - wait until fully cured before wet-sanding or buffing the topcoat. Store the can upright in a cool spot with ventilation and observe standard safety steps when spraying.
