Sanding sleeve designed for model tyre profiling

The HUDY 102590 P080 sleeve provides a coarse abrasive surface for rapid removal of rubber material on model tyres and for rough shaping of tyre profiles used in scale car applications. It is intended for initial trimming rather than final surfacing.

To install, press the abrasive sleeve onto the compatible drum mandrel or push-fit core used in tyre truer devices and rotary adapters. Make sure the assembly spins true on the mandrel to reduce vibration and uneven wear. Use steady, light strokes to control how much rubber is removed.

When tuning, use this coarse drum to take down high spots and establish the basic profile, then follow with progressively finer abrasives to reach the desired finish. Regularly clean the sleeve and replace it once the abrasive surface shows glazing for consistent results.

Will this work with handheld rotary tools?

Yes, when fitted to a matching mandrel or adapter rated for your rotary tool, the sleeve can be used in handheld applications, but ensure secure mounting and low speeds for control.

How should I care for the abrasive sleeve?

Keep the sleeve free of accumulated rubber and dust; tap or brush debris away and replace the sleeve when the grit stops cutting cleanly.

Could this affect tyre balance?

Bulk removal can change mass distribution. Perform light, even passes and check balance if precise rotation characteristics are required.
