The Short Stirling Mk.I earned its place as the Royal Air Force's first operational four-engine heavy bomber, noted for a high wing layout and a durable metal structure. Entering service in 1940 with Bomber Command, it was ultimately superseded by larger types, but its ability to carry over 6,000 kg of bombs and its eight 7.7 mm machine guns made it an effective wartime platform.
This 1/72 scale kit from Italeri, listed as model 1335S, benefits from upgraded moulds and includes a photo-etched fret to enhance surface detail. A full colour instruction sheet and decal choices for six schemes are included to let builders reproduce different historical liveries. The kit suits those who enjoy accurate WWII scale aircraft and detailed assembly work.
