The Lockheed Martin F-104 Starfighter made its name with a streamlined profile and short, sharp wings that gave it exceptional speed for its era. Introduced in the late 1950s, it flew as a frontline interceptor with the USAF and later equipped many NATO air arms. The F-104A served mainly in an interceptor role, while the F-104C was adapted for fighter-bomber tasks during the Vietnam conflict. The Italeri 1359S kit captures the Starfighter form, from the narrow wing planform to the characteristic General Electric J-79 turbojet installation.
