1/72 Scale Kfir C.1 F-21A Lion Overview

The Italeri 1397S 1/72 F-21A Lion/Kfir C.1 captures the character of the Israeli-built multirole fighter in a neat scale. The Kfir originated from the Dassault Mirage III/5 airframe and was upgraded by Israel Aircraft Industries with local modifications and the General Electric J79 turbojet, enhancing its performance for both interception and strike roles. It was typically armed with two 30 mm cannons and could carry assorted missiles and bombs depending on mission needs.

In the 1980s the Kfir saw service as the F-21A Lion when leased to the US Navy and Marine Corps for air combat training. This Italeri kit honours that chapter and includes an extensive decal sheet supplying three variant options, making it a practical kit for modellers exploring Cold War era jets.

The kit offers a good level of detail for 1/72 scale, with panel lines and cockpit basics suitable for moderate detailing and painting.
A single super decal sheet supplies markings for three different F-21A Lion/Kfir C.1 schemes, so you can build multiple authentic-looking examples.
It is accessible to modellers with some kit experience; novices should allow time for careful gluing and decal application, while more experienced builders can add extra cockpit and engine detail.
Apply light washes to accentuate panel lines and a subtle drybrush to bring out raised details; avoid overdoing it to keep the 1/72 scale look believable.
