The Bell AB 212/UH-1N has its roots in Bell Helicopter designs from the late 1960s and was produced under licence by Agusta Westland as the AB-212. That version featured a lengthened fuselage and twin Pratt & Whitney PT6T engines, improving payload and performance.
From the early 2000s several AB 212s were upgraded with rotating gun mounts, upgraded defensive countermeasures including flare systems, and strengthened armour for crew protection. These changes were applied during peacekeeping and combat support roles, including operations in Afghanistan from 2006 onward.
Italeri's 1/48 model reproduces these aspects with accurate exterior and internal details. The scale makes it practical for display cases and for modellers who enjoy weathering and detailing work.
