The BAE Hawk T. Mk.I began life at Hawker Siddeley and later became part of BAE Systems production. Introduced as an advanced jet trainer for the RAF in the late 1970s, it was intended to replace the Folland Gnat and is powered by the Rolls-Royce Adour turbofan, capable of speeds near Mach 0.84.
The Hawk T1A variant added provisions for a centreline Aden 30 mm gun pod and AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles, allowing limited combat capability in addition to training duties. Its reliable performance and low operating costs have encouraged many air forces to adopt the type, and it remains well known thanks to aerobatic display teams.
This Italeri 2813 kit offers sharp detail at 1/48 scale and parts designed for accurate assembly. The set is well suited to modellers who enjoy painting and decal work, producing a convincing Hawk T. Mk.I that works equally well on a shelf or as part of a larger flight display.
