The Italeri 6477 reproduces the Semovente L 40 Da 47/32, a small but effective Italian tank hunter from World War II. Built on the L6/40 light tank frame, it carried a 47mm gun in a fixed casemate. Although outmatched by heavier Allied tanks, it served usefully in desert fighting and was later taken over by German formations after Italy's capitulation.
First introduced in 1941, the Semovente variant numbered around 300 examples and offered a step up in anti-armor firepower for Italian armoured forces. Its most notable theatre was North Africa, and its transfer to German units after 1943 extended its service life.
This Italeri release focuses on authenticity in hull lines and gun detail, attracting scale modellers who enjoy accurate small-armoured vehicles. The parts fit is generally good but benefits from patient trimming and trial fitting for crisp final assembly.
