Overview for KC10 Pinion Use

The Kyosho CL017 pinion is a 12T motor pinion intended for the KC10 chassis. It is compatible with KC10 drivetrains that accept 0.8M pitch gearing and provides a simple way to adjust the final drive ratio for improved acceleration or higher top speed depending on selection.

Installation is simple but demands attention: check the motor shaft diameter and establish the correct mesh with the spur gear to avoid early wear. Confirm axial alignment, reduce motor shaft runout, tighten the pinion mounting without distorting the shaft, and manually rotate the drivetrain before applying power.

In tuning terms, fitting a 12T pinion moves the ratio toward stronger acceleration relative to larger pinions, whereas choosing smaller pinions can lower the electrical load on ESC and motor. Always verify battery, ESC, and motor performance after changing gear ratios to maintain reliability.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Kyosho items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
This pinion is made for KC10 systems using 0.8M pitch gears; double check your kit specifies 0.8M pitch and that the motor shaft diameter fits the pinion bore before fitting it.
Apply a thin marker stripe to the spur teeth, mesh the gears, then observe the transfer pattern on the pinion to ensure even contact; adjust mesh until the contact area is centered across the teeth faces.
Switching to 12T typically increases acceleration by altering the final ratio, but it can also raise motor RPM for a given speed. Monitor system temperatures and motor load after the change and revert or adjust if necessary.
