When Kyosho unveiled the MR-03EVO in December 2018, the separate receiver board was a game changer for MINI-Z racers. That separation allows users to choose their preferred transmitter and modify the electronics stack without major surgery. Fast processing and a compact layout made the MR-03EVO popular for club and casual competition.
The kit is fitted with the KYOSHO SPEED HOUSE XSPEED 56 brushless motor, rated at 5600KV. Its single-piece aluminium casing helps to shed heat during demanding laps. The package also includes full ball bearings and the Ball Diff Set II to cut drivetrain losses and stabilize handling.
Thanks to the split ESC and receiver design, switching between brushed and brushless setups is straightforward. Compatible receivers include RA-40, RA-41, RA-42, and RA-43, which open up compatibility with many Futaba and Flysky transmitters. This makes the chassis suitable for drivers moving up from ready-to-run models or refining their race rigs.
Improvements like the redesigned receiver cover and the enhanced front upper arm mount make fine tuning easier, especially when dialing in tread. Lightweight construction paired with modern motor tech helps users get a competitive feel on short circuits.
The Kyosho MR-03EVO chassis set suits hobbyists who enjoy setup work and want a chassis that accepts different receivers and motors without complex fitting.
