Short springs for Mini-Z MB-010 shocks

The Kyosho MBW012S Setting Spring Set (Short) provides short-length springs tailored to Mini-Z MB-010 style shocks, delivered in colour-coded stiffnesses so racers can refine handling without replacing shock bodies.

This kit uses the short Mini-Z spring profile and includes progressive rates indicated by colour: Purple (super soft), Green (soft), Silver (medium), Gold (hard). The package typically arrives with the super soft spring installed as standard.

Fitting is direct: remove the shock cap and spring retainer, slide the chosen short spring onto the shaft, and reassemble. Expect a change in static ride height and initial preload versus longer springs, so check rebound and droop after each swap.

For tuning work, pick softer colours to boost grip on slippery or dusty tracks and firmer colours to stabilise the chassis at higher cornering speeds. Test methodically and compare results on a consistent surface to judge handling shifts.

As an original Kyosho spare, MBW012S is intended for model-scale suspension tuning and maintenance on Mini-Z cars.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Kyosho items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Start with Purple (super soft) to maximise mechanical grip on low-traction surfaces, then move up one step at a time if balance needs tightening.
Change only one spring rate at a time and run several consistent laps, noting understeer, oversteer, and lap times to determine the impact.
No significant difference in normal hobby use, but inspect springs for fatigue or deformation after heavy running. Proper mounting helps extend service life.
Mixing lengths affects ride height and preload. It is possible, but retune droop and rebound to compensate and test carefully.
Stiffer springs reduce suspension travel and can make damping feel harsher; softer springs increase travel and may require firmer damping to control body motion.
Yes. MBW012S is listed as a Kyosho spare for Mini-Z series maintenance and tuning.
