Overview of the PROMOTO-MX shaft

Designed for the specified LOSI PROMOTO-MX motorcycle RTRs, this 4x65mm shaft suits dampers accepting a 4mm diameter x 65mm length rod. Fabricated from 4140 medium carbon steel and given a zinc-plated surface hardening treatment, it improves wear resistance and dimensional stability under load. The component is supplied as a single pcs unit for use in suspension maintenance or part replacement.

The shaft acts as the internal guide and load member inside the shock; fitting a straight replacement removes bend-related issues and reduces flex that can degrade damping performance. Check the internal shock geometry and any spacer or bushing requirements before fitting to ensure correct clearance and travel.

Do I need to replace the whole shock or just the shaft?

If the shock body and internals are in good condition, replacing the bent or worn shaft is often sufficient to restore proper damping. Inspect seals and bearings while you have the shock apart.

Will this shaft rust in salty environments?

The zinc-plated finish reduces corrosion risk, but rinse and dry parts after exposure to salt or water to prolong service life.
