This 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit reproduces the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 late model and is presented as part of the Tamiya 1/48 aircraft lineup following careful reference work.
The Bf109 was a cornerstone single-engine fighter for Germany in World War II, produced in very large numbers and used on diverse fronts. The G-6, introduced around mid-1943, is recognised for the Beule nose bulge and the Erla Haube reduced-frame canopy that improves sightlines; after August 1943 many airframes also carried 21 cm rocket launchers beneath the wings. The G-6 continued in front-line roles until the end of the war.
The kit reproduces late-production external details derived from documented sources. New engine cowlings capture the Beule profile and the right-side air scoop; they can be built open or closed and interchanged. A clear Erla Haube canopy is supplied and fits in open or closed positions. Included new parts represent the canopy rearview mirror and cover, main landing gear bay door details with cloth covers removed, and the 21 cm wing rocket launcher assemblies with pylons. The instruction sheet contains color painting guidance and decals for four marking schemes, including the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf. Builders may assemble the kit as an early model, a late model, or a mixed version. See the specifications below for fuselage length and wingspan.
A carefully referenced 1/48 kit that captures late-model Bf109 G-6 external traits and provides multiple build choices for display-minded hobbyists.
