The Trumpeter Mitsubishi A6M2b Model 21 Zero Fighter in 1:24 scale is produced as a large-format plastic assembly kit for historical display and precise modelling. It is geared towards modellers prioritising authenticity and visible detail in a display-scale aircraft.
The real Mitsubishi A6M2b Type 21 was an early operational version of the A6M Zero produced before mid-1942. Introduced after initial trials in 1940, the Type 21 featured naval adaptations including folding wingtips and an arrestor hook, and it entered combat operations in China in August 1940. The A6M2b saw extensive use in early Pacific operations until later variants took over and many airframes were reassigned.
The kit mirrors the Type 21 layout with parts intended to recreate external fittings and period markings. Included are multiple sprues, separate aileron and flap linkages fitted with metal shafts, photo-etched hinge components, and rubber tyres. The decals supply markings for an Akagi unit from the Pearl Harbor engagement. Represented engine detail and sprung landing gear add display realism, and instrument panel film parts are supplied for cockpit facings.
A high-detail large-format kit capturing the early A6M2b Type 21 for experienced builders and collectors who focus on historical accuracy and static presentation.
