Flat Brush Performance for Scale Models

The Mr.Hobby GSI-MB08 Flat Brush No.8 gives hobbyists a reliable flat edge to spread paint evenly across panels and larger surfaces. It is well suited to the mix of fine detail and broad coverage common in RC model work.

Where to Use This Brush

Use this brush for base coats, panel shading and straight-edged areas where a uniform finish matters. Its flat shape makes wide, controlled strokes simpler to execute than with round brushes.

Painting Hints for Better Finish

  • Keep the brush clean between colour changes to avoid muddy transitions.
  • Prefer water-based acrylics for quicker handling and easier cleaning on the bench.
  • Practice on a scrap sprue or part to check load and stroke before painting the main surface.
It is ideal for smooth plastic and resin surfaces where you need even coverage across flat panels or long edges.
Acrylics are easiest for cleanup and layering, but you can also use enamels with suitable thinners and cleaners.
Store dry, with bristles supported so they are not bent. A brush holder or wrap works well to protect the flat edge.
Work with thin layers and feather the stroke at the end of each pass to minimise visible brush lines.
