Technical note for the 55AX cover plate

This O.S. Engine cover plate is supplied as a crankcase replacement named for use with 55AX engine models. It restores the sealed chamber that houses the crankshaft and internal components. Do not assume compatibility with other engine codes without checking the marking on your engine.

For installation, clean mating faces thoroughly and remove any old gasket residue or install a new gasket as required. Fasten evenly to avoid warping and inspect for oil leaks after the engine is run. While it helps maintain case geometry and sealing, it should not be treated as a performance upgrade part.

Use this cover plate when the original part shows visible damage, deformation, or persistent leakage. Retain removed screws and confirm bolt hole alignment before final torqueing to ensure correct seating on the 55AX crankcase.
