The O.S. Engine 28XZ is built to serve heavier truggy setups that need steady acceleration and reliable throttle response. Feedback from experienced truggy drivers influenced its balance of accessible torque and high-rpm capability.
Despite its modest displacement, the O.S. Engine 28XZ produces notable output thanks to 0.284 cu in (4.65 cc) displacement and tuned internal geometry. Rated at 3.31 hp at 32,000 rpm, the larger two-piece head and inner head button work to maintain cooler running during longer sessions.
The crankcase uses a sealed front bearing plus a high-performance inner bearing for dependable operation. The oiled-bushed connecting rod and three-needle 21J slide-valve carburetor give tuners the control needed to match engine response to track conditions.
Pairing the O.S. Engine 28XZ with the Mark Pavidas Edition Tuned Pipe (OSMG2969) can sharpen the powerband. Specific flywheel combinations are also suggested for platforms like Mugen and Kyosho to improve driveability.
The 28XZ is a practical choice for truggy builders who want a tunable, durable engine that plays well with popular tuned pipes and flywheel options.
