Pitching damper piston and shaft assembly

This Yokomo YX-40S shaft and piston assembly is an aftermarket replacement made for the pitching damper on 1/12 YRX 12 race cars. The kit includes both two-hole and three-hole pistons so you can tune flow characteristics to match your suspension setup. It is specified for use on YR-X12 and YR-X1219 chassis.

To install: remove the damper from the vehicle, open the shock body, replace the piston and shaft unit, then rebuild using your preferred oil and shim stack. Inspect O-rings and seals as you reassemble and perform a few shakedown runs to verify the damping response.

Tuning note: piston hole count alters flow rates; choose the 2-hole piston for more restrictive damping and the 3-hole piston for freer flow. Adjust oil grade and piston height to suit track grip and driving style.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Start by removing the damper from the chassis, loosen the end caps and separate the shock body. Remove the old piston and shaft, fit the YX-40S assembly, then rebuild the shock with the same oil and shim arrangement. Tighten caps and check for leaks before reinstalling.
Yes, you can reuse the same oil and shim stack initially to compare performance. Inspect seals and O-rings for wear, then adjust oil weight or shims if the damping response needs tuning for your track conditions.
