78-Tooth 48P Spur Overview

The SG-4878S is a 78-tooth spur specified for D-MAX series dual clutch (slipper) systems on 1/10 scale RC cars. It serves as a replacement or upgrade where a 48P spur is required, keeping the intended tooth count and enabling fine adjustments to slipper engagement and driveline characteristics.

For installation, confirm that the pinion and slipper unit are 48P compatible, establish the correct gear mesh to avoid excessive wear, and set the slipper preload to suit the vehicle weight and motor output. Remove debris from the installation area and ensure bearings and mating surfaces rotate smoothly prior to final tightening.

From a tuning standpoint, fitting a 78T spur shifts the effective gear ratio relative to other tooth counts, influencing throttle response and peak speed when used with slipper settings and motor timing. Apply gradual changes and evaluate on-track performance to determine the preferred balance between responsiveness and component life.

Compatibility

Compatible with D-MAX series dual clutch (slipper) assemblies that use 48P spur gear specifications.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
A larger 78T spur typically reduces top acceleration compared with smaller tooth counts but can increase top-end speed depending on motor and pinion. Combine small spur changes with slipper preload tweaks for best results.
You may need to select a different pinion to achieve the desired final ratio. Ensure any pinion you use is 48P to maintain correct tooth engagement with the SG-4878S.
Make incremental changes to spur or pinion, run short tests, monitor temperature and drivetrain noise, and adjust slipper preload between runs to dial in handling and longevity.
