Durability-focused titanium piston shaft for R12/GT

This replacement rear shock shaft and piston is intended for use with the Yokomo R12/GT series as an aftermarket accessory for RC touring cars. The shaft is finished with a titanium coating to resist scratches and lower friction at the O-ring interface, helping to extend service intervals and reduce wear-related damping changes.

Installation guidance: remove the original piston shaft and install the R12-18SRT in the same orientation through the damper body and seal stack. Make sure the O-ring seats correctly and that the piston travels freely before completing assembly. Use the correct shock oil and follow your normal damper service steps for R12/GT units.

Durability effect: the tougher shaft surface reduces micro-abrasion around the O-ring and helps maintain consistent damping over many runs. Note that internal piston geometry and hole sizing are unchanged, so tuning choices remain based on piston type and oil weight.

The titanium finish increases surface hardness and reduces scratch-related wear, which helps the shaft and O-ring last longer between inspections and replacements.
Yes. While the coating reduces abrasion, you should still inspect O-rings and shock internals periodically and refresh oil as part of normal maintenance.
The improved surface can reduce micro-damage to O-rings, potentially extending their usable life, but routine checks are recommended to confirm condition.
